Erica Doyle was recently on our local Sonoran Living Program, ABC Channel 15.  Erica was showing how to embellish kitchen towels with rick rack and fabric.   Remember RICK RACK?   Erica Is also a organizer of the  Arizona Sewing Meetup.     The Sewing Asylum offers beginning sewing and serging classes.

I've been teaching sewing for over 15 years now. I have a degree in Home Economics with an emphasis in Fashion Design/Merchandising from California State University, Northridge. When in college I used to say, "I want to promote home sewing!" and all my classmates would look at me like I was nuts. I learned to sew as a child, starting out with mumus for my Barbie dolls. When I was a freshman in high school, I took my first sewing class and fell in love with my sewing machine. It was such a thrill to take a piece of fabric, cut it up and sew it into something to wear. I thought everybody should be doing this and they'd love it as much as I do. My goal is to make sewing fun for you. Don't sweat the mistakes, we can take care of those. Just enjoy the process...I'm not grading you like you were back in the days of High School Home Ec. THIS IS SUPPOSED TO BE FUN!

Happy Saint Patricks! My Favorite Holiday

Hope your all having a great Irish day.  My family heritage goes back to Scotland and Ireland, we traced it back to the 1600's. 

My favorite way to cook cornbeef is to place into a roaster pan,surround it with Guinness Beer and pat the top of cornbeef with brown sugar.  Roast with lid at 325 degrees for about 5 hours.  Remove let cool and serve sliced  cornbeef on rye or soda bread with irish cheese and tarragon mustard.

 Toast the day with a smooth glass of Guinness.

Home Decor Sewing Instructor Training - Aug 8-10th

The Home Decor Sewing Instructor (HDSI)  program does not teach you how to sew. It provides business training - specific to the home décor sewing industry-to help current sewing instructors, educators and businesses to succeed.

 

Graduates of HDSI course leave with practical knowledge and a sense of confidence to begin and expand their education portfolio. Many graduates may go on to start home-based businesses, to teach part or full-time in retail stores, or start sewing schools and sewing lounges.

Cactus Everywhere

I would love to share a few of the beautiful cactus from my front yard.  Thank goodness no water required!

The Beaver Tail is getting ready to bloom with beautiful pink flowers, I will update the photo when it blooms.

The Cirrus Cactus has 6-8" blooms and blooms at night.  The Bats and Large black bees love this cactus.

       

8 years ago I could decorate the top of this Saguaro for Xhristmas, now look at the growth.
